About Mount Fuji Tour

A guide for your day at the foot of Fuji

Mount Fuji Tour is an independent guide for everyone who wants to see Mount Fuji from Tokyo. Here you will find how the coach day with Hakone, Lake Yamanaka and Oshino Hakkai works, how other Fuji day tours compare, how far the mountain is and which trains and buses go there, where to see it from Tokyo itself, what waits at the Fuji Five Lakes and the Chureito Pagoda, what the 5th stations are, when and how the mountain can be climbed, how tall it is and when it last erupted, which months give the clearest views, when a private tour makes sense, what a tour day looks like hour by hour, and how Fuji combines with Kamakura.

The site is available in English and five additional languages. It is written first in English.

How we research

Every number on our pages comes from a source that we link to at the bottom of the page: mostly the official Mt. Fuji climbing website of the Ministry of the Environment and the Yamanashi and Shizuoka prefectures, the Japan Meteorological Agency, the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan, the Japan National Tourism Organization, the official tourist guide of Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture's tourism site and the Fujikyu Railway. The month-by-month climate figures are the Japan Meteorological Agency's official 1991 to 2020 normals for its Kawaguchiko station on Lake Kawaguchi, and the day length is our own calculation. Information on tours, that is duration, stops, languages, inclusions, and starting prices, is taken from the offers on GetYourGuide.

Climbing rules and fees change from year to year, the mountain hides behind cloud on many days, and listings differ in what they include, a 5th station above all. That is why we tell you plainly what a listing states and what it leaves open, and which year a rule applies to.

How we make money

Mount Fuji Tour is funded through the GetYourGuide affiliate program. When you book through one of our links, we receive a commission; your price remains the same. There are no advertising banners here, and we do not sell your data.

Who is behind it
